Showcasing amateur photographic clubs within the Western Cape

Supporting education and innovation within the amateur photo club arena, while building a solid photographic community

The Western Cape Photographic Forum (WCPF) was founded in 2018 to provide a platform for clubs in the region to share ideas, successes and challenges, and to work together to promote photography in the region through various activities. These include Interclub, the JAP course, a list of approved judges, promotion of youth activities, etc.

The forum was officially launched in April 2018 when the constitution was adopted at the first AGM. During the preceding year a working committee consisting of Nicol du Toit, Francois du Bois, Johan Bester and Phillip de Lange were tasked by clubs in the region to draft this constitution.

All Western Cape clubs are invited to send up to two representatives to the quarterly meetings where issues of importance to clubs in the region are discussed. Each club has a single vote in the forum, although the aim is to make decisions by consensus.

At the first AGM three Exco members were elected for a two year term (which may only be extended once): chairman (Nicol du Toit), treasurer (Francois du Bois) and secretary (Trudi du Toit). Jane Bursey was elected secretary at the start of the second two-year term.

In addition, various officials responsible for specific functions attend forum meetings, but do not have votings rights.

The Western Cape Photographic Forum is comprised of around 17 amateur photographic clubs within the greater Western Cape. We build consensus, agree standards, promote education support the individual clubs where possible.

The WCPF falls under the umbrella of the PSSA (the Photographic Society of South Africa), and encourages all clubs and their members to participate in all the competitions. events and other activities that the PSSA have to offer. To find out more, please click HERE for the PSSA website link.
